Job Overview We are actively recruiting for a highly skilled and experienced Steel Fixer to join a large-scale commercial infrastructure project based in Poland. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the precise positioning and securing of steel bars and steel mesh used in reinforced concrete. You will work within a large team of tradespeople and engineers, ensuring that all structural frameworks are installed exactly according to complex engineering blueprints to guarantee the safety and longevity of the building.

Key Duties Include

  • Setting out work areas based on detailed engineering plans and marking locations for rebar.

  • Cutting, bending, and tying steel reinforcement bars to create cages and mats for concrete pours.

  • Collaborating with formwork carpenters and concrete gangs to ensure seamless project flow.

Detailed Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret construction blueprints, reinforcement plans, and bar bending schedules with high accuracy.

  • Operate heavy-duty power tools, including grinders, shears, and automatic bending machines, to cut steel to size.

  • Securely join steel reinforcement using nips, wire clips, or tack welds, ensuring rigidity during concrete application.

  • Install spacers, chairs, and blocks to maintain the correct concrete cover and spacing as per structural requirements.

  • Fabricate and install steel mesh for floor slabs, walls, and pre-cast concrete elements.

  • Adhere to strict workplace health and safety regulations (OHS), including the use of full PPE at all times.

  • Assist in offloading steel deliveries and organizing the laydown area for efficient workflow.

Requirements & skills

  • Minimum 3 years of proven experience as a Steel Fixer in the heavy construction or civil engineering sector.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and architectural plans without supervision.

  • Excellent physical condition with the stamina to lift heavy materials and work in various weather conditions.

  • Proficiency with hand and power tools, specifically rebar cutters and benders.

  • Valid work safety training or construction industry safety card (White Card or equivalent).

  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a multicultural team.
